Curriculum Overview 2025-2026

During our final half term of the academic year, we are excited to explore our theme of “Long, Long Ago – Kings, Queens and Castles.” The children will be immersed in a magical world of royalty, where they can dress up as kings, queens, princes, and princesses and take part in their very own special ‘ball’. We will be exploring castles both near and far, discovering who lived in them and what life was like in the past. Through creative play, storytelling, and hands-on activities, the children will build their own castles, learn about royal traditions, and let their imaginations run wild in this exciting historical adventure. During our fifth term of this academic year, we explored our exciting theme of “Long, Long Ago,” focusing on dinosaurs, fossils, and observing changes through life cycles. The children had the opportunity to watch our very own caterpillars and frogspawn as they grew and transformed, helping them understand how living things change over time. We investigated fossils and dinosaur bones, sparking curiosity about the past, and explored volcanoes through fun, hands-on activities, including observing melting materials and fizzy, erupting reactions. During our fourth term this academic year, we explored our theme of ‘Where will our wellies take us? Space and astronauts. Moon, stars and planets’. The children went on a journey beyond our world as we learnt about the moon, stars and planets. We investigated shadows and reflections, talked about where we live on Earth, and imagined what might live on different planets. During our third term this academic year, we explored our topic ‘Where will our wellies take us? Music from around the world’. We listened to music from different countries around the world and explored the instruments they use. We discussed music we like and moved our bodies to the beat. During our second term this academic year, we explored our topic ‘Our wonderful world- festivals, celebrations and colours’. We looked at festivals and celebrations that we all celebrate within Nursery including Bridgwater Carnival, Remembrance day, Diwali and Christmas.
