1. What is a church school?
As a church school, we are closely aligned with the Church of England Vision for Education. At the heart of this vision is Jesus’s promise of ‘life in all its fullness.’
It is a vision for the common good of the whole school community, one in which all may flourish.
It involves:
Educating for wisdom, knowledge and skills: enabling discipline, confidence and delight in seeking wisdom and knowledge, and developing talents in all areas of life.
Educating for hope and aspiration: enabling healing, repair and renewal, coping wisely when things go wrong, opening horizons and guiding people into ways of fulfilling them.
Educating for community and living well together: a core focus on relationships, participation in communities and the qualities of character that enable people to flourish together.
Educating for dignity and respect: the basic principle of respect for the value and preciousness of each person, treating each person as a unique individual of inherent worth.

2. Our Christian vision
At Two Rivers C of E Primary School, we believe every child has the potential to achieve anything.
We are committed to providing a creative, innovative, and exciting education that inspires children to become lifelong learners—enthusiastic, curious, and proud of all they do. We want every child to excel across all areas of learning within an immersive, imaginative, expressive, and inclusive environment.

“Life in all its fullness” (John 10:10)
Our vision is rooted in the teaching of “Life in all its fullness” (John 10:10). Living this vision ourselves, while encouraging the children to do the same, is central to our school life. It reflects the Christian belief that life should be lived with purpose, wholeness, and resilience.
This teaching parallels the way our school guides and nurtures its pupils. It requires the loyalty, dedication, and commitment of our staff team, who know the children well and support them in flourishing both academically and spiritually.
We supported the trust in making a song based around our vision:

3. Our core values
Kindness, respect, courage and aspiration
Two Rivers Church of England Primary School is built upon four core values: kindness, respect, courage, and aspiration. Alongside the British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance, these principles underpin our behaviour expectations and shape the ethos of our school. Our school values are celebrated through house points linked to each value and certificates awarded for showing a school value during celebration worship.
We warmly welcome children and families of all faiths. Our vision and values aim to inspire every child to grow into a successful, confident individual who enriches the lives of others and contributes positively to the wider community.
4. Collective worship
At Two Rivers, the children participate in a daily act of collective worship. Teaching staff and members of the school/church community lead services every day in the school hall. These usually follow the pattern:
- Monday: Whole school collective worship: our values
- Tuesday: Whole school collective worship led by a member of the clergy team
- Wednesday: Whole school collective worship: spirituality through singing
- Thursday: Class collective worship: Spirituality through reflection and discussion of ‘big questions’
- Friday: Celebration assembly: Looking out, looking in, looking up to reflect and give thanks for the week.
5. Community and living well together
Two Rivers is at the heart of the community. We are also extremely grateful for the diverse contribution that many members of the community make towards the running of the school and the quality of our pupils’ experience.
Two Rivers works closely with St John’s Church and maintains strong links with other establishments in our community. Throughout the year, our children visit the local care home to sing for the residents, who in turn join us at school events such as Harvest, Nativity plays, and Carol Concerts.
We also enjoy valuable partnerships with local supermarkets, who generously support our activities. For example, Waitrose donated oranges for our Christingle service and kindly offered parents use of their car park during our Big Walk and Wheel week. Tesco also supports us by contributing to our World Book Day celebrations.
Mental wellbeing
We teach the skills to support mental wellbeing throughout our curriculum. We celebrate #HelloYellow Day annually and enjoy raising money for charities such as Children in Need, Comic Relief and Sport Relief.
6. Hope, aspiration and courageous advocacy
Eco Warriors
At Two Rivers, we are all advocates for the community.
Care for creation is a common theme in our curriculum and collective worship. The issue of sustainability is woven throughout our curriculum and and we take part annually in an Eco Summit of pupils and guest speakers from across our trust. Our climate and nature action plan contributes to local environmental goals and our houses are named after prominent local and national environmentalists.
7. Dignity and respect
Our values education is strong and our school vision is for all pupils to flourish as a result. We champion the value of every individual though all of our approaches within and outside the classroom and we seeks ways to celebrate the contributions of all pupils every day.
Our house system provides recognition for all individual and collective merit.
Our weekly celebration assembly highlights the talents of all pupils and makes a link to our christian values. Our inclusive approaches celebrate all pupils’ faiths and beliefs.
