School Houses

Every child belongs to one of our four School Teams;

Oak                Yellow
Beech             Blue
Sycamore       Green
Rowan             Red

House Captains

Each term, two Year 6s from each house are elected to be house captains. Miss Priestman, the Year 6 class teacher, is always looking out to see children show examples of all of the qualities that make a good house captain – teamwork, communication, following the rules, listening, contributing well and confidence to name only a few. These eight children take on the role of house captain for the term, getting to do jobs like showing visitors around and setting up assemblies every day. Throughout the year, each house holds a fundraiser for the charity that their house supports for that year (decided by the members of the house team and house captains using democracy) that the house captains help to organise.

At the start of a new term, new house captains are elected. These could be different children or, depending on behaviour and the previously mentioned attributes, could be children that have already taken on the role once before.

For the Autumn term, our house captains are:

Oak: Pippa and Halle

Beech: Henry and Lilly

Sycamore: Taylor and Darya

Rowan: Jenson and Jacob

Please note: Children are allocated to a house team when they start school; siblings are put into the same team. Team Points are given by the staff for good work, helpfulness, kindness, effort and for a whole variety of worthwhile reasons (not necessarily associated with ability). Children work towards a whole team score and each week, during celebration assembly, a gold leaf is given to the house that has accumulated the most Team Points over the week. This is added to their house tree and at the end of the term there is an award for the team with the most leaves gained that term.
