At All Saints Church of England Primary School, we are proud of our Christian Foundation which is rooted in our involvement with our local Church- All Saints.
Our Siams Inspection Sept 2024) assessed that ‘the school creates a culture of exceptional care and encouragement. This is inspired by the vision of a ‘nurturing environment’, reflecting Christian care for its community. This ensures that adults and pupils are treated well.’
The school was built for the community of East Clevedon and we welcome all pupils and their families of all faiths or none to live out our Vision Statement ‘Inspired to learn’ and to carry out Proverbs 22:6 where, as a community “we start children off on the way they should go and even when they are old they will not turn from it.”
Church Links
All Saints Church was founded in 1860 and celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2010.
In 1870 the Church, together with the Diocese of Bath and Wells, built All Saints School.
In those days it started as a Sunday School, but quickly developed into an Infants and Primary school serving this community. The school has been supported by the church ever since.
Across the Diocese, we have some 33,000 children currently in church schools. The added value that the ethos and heritage of church schools contributes has been strongly recognised by different Governments over the years and many parents rightly see them as healthy and good schools.
Our aim here, as we seek to support the school, is to be a friend and resource. Our Church building is used on a daily basis by the school, we have weekly Collective Worship taken by the clergy of the church, whole school services for festivals, we provide 3 Foundation Governors to assist in leading the school and we provide pastoral support when needed. We are pleased that our relationship with the school is warm, strong and supportive.
The Diocese takes as its guiding principal some words of Christ found in John’s Gospel – “I have come that they might have life, and have it to the full”. This is what a healthy and positive partnership between the School and Church feels like and at All Saints Church, we hope that our partnership with All Saints East Clevedon Church of England Primary School contributes to this fulfilment and enjoyment of learning and living.

Collective Worship
Through our collective worship provision we aim to encourage children’s natural sense of wonder and to develop their qualities of curiosity, celebration, faith and gratitude which form the foundation of the worship of God.
Through this we want to contribute to children’s spiritual, moral and cultural development and enable them to reflect specifically on Christian values and beliefs.
To engage our children and provide a variety of approaches to collective worship, we aim to foster a sense of community and unity within the school.
We aspire to offer children an opportunity for the understanding of God in a way that is individual and appropriate for them, and which allows them to be comfortable in worship.
During our Siams Inspection (sept 2024) it was referenced that: ‘Collective worship is central to the school day and has a significant impact on enabling all to flourish spiritually.’
Each week we congregate to celebrate our collective worship in All Saints Church led by Father Noel. The positioning of our school enables this regular link and our children respect the church as a place of worship.
Our Collective Worship builds on our school values of; Community, Creativity, Joy, Curiosity and Confidence. Each term we explore a Value in depth. the photo below shows our display of Joy from our school Collective Worship responses and our own celebration of our pilgrimage to Wells Cathedral to see the Gaia Exhibit.

The history of our school
All Saints Church of England Primary School was first build as a Sunday school, but the Elton family and gifted to the local Church. From 1873 the school opened as a day school for the children of the local community.

Above is a photo of All Saints Church and the school. The school has a field below- which is now where Father Noel’s house is. Carey’s close is also fields.
The old Clevedon to Portishead Railways used to run along the bottom of that field. We still walk along the old trackway to get to the gate of the lower playground.
