Accessibility statement

We want as many people as possible to be able to use the Futura Learning Partnership website and the websites of our schools.

We know that people access our websites in different ways, and we want everyone to be able to find the information they need and use our online services as easily as possible.

For example, we aim to make our websites work with commonly used assistive technologies, including screen readers, keyboard navigation and speech recognition software. We also aim to use clear language, accessible colours and readable layouts.

We are continually working to improve the accessibility of our websites.

Accessibility features

We have designed our websites to work across a range of devices and screen sizes, including desktop computers, tablets and mobile phones.

We aim to:

  • Make our websites usable with a keyboard
  • Provide appropriate alternative text for images where it is needed
  • Use clear and readable text
  • Provide sufficient colour contrast
  • Structure pages so they can be understood and navigated using assistive technologies
  • Make forms and other interactive features as accessible as possible
  • Provide captions or transcripts for video and other multimedia content where appropriate

We are continuing to review our websites and content to identify and fix accessibility issues.

How accessible are our websites?

We are committed to making our websites accessible in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Our websites are partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard because of the non-compliances and exemptions described below.

Content that is not fully accessible

We know that some parts of our websites are not yet fully accessible. These include:

  • PDF documents: Some older PDF documents may not be fully accessible to people using screen readers or other assistive technologies.
  • Images: We are working to ensure that images have appropriate alternative text where it is needed. Decorative images may intentionally have empty alternative text.
  • Colour contrast: Some text may not have sufficient colour contrast against its background.
  • Abbreviations and acronyms: Some abbreviations or acronyms may not be fully explained.
  • Forms and embedded content: Some third-party or bespoke forms and embedded content may not be fully accessible.
  • Older content: Some content published before our current accessibility processes were introduced may not fully meet WCAG 2.2 AA.

We are working with our website providers and content teams to identify and address accessibility issues as part of our ongoing website updates.

Where we identify an accessibility problem, we will consider its impact on users and prioritise improvements accordingly.

School websites and exemptions

Some content published by schools is exempt from the accessibility regulations.

For example, certain content published by primary and secondary schools may be exempt where it is not essential to the services provided by the school.

However, content that people need in order to use our services should be accessible. This could include information or online forms that parents, pupils or other users need in order to access or use a service.

Where an exemption applies, we will still consider whether there is an accessible alternative that we can provide.

Third-party content

Some of our websites contain links to, or content provided by, third parties. While we aim to make our own websites accessible, we cannot always guarantee the accessibility of content or services provided by external organisations.

If you have difficulty accessing third-party content that you have reached through one of our websites, please contact us and we will do our best to help.

If you cannot access part of our website

We want everyone to be able to access the information we provide.

If you need information from one of our websites in a different format, such as:

  • An accessible PDF
  • Large print
  • Easy read
  • An audio recording
  • Braille
  • Another accessible format

Please contact us at enquiries@futuralearning.co.uk.

Please tell us which information you need and, if possible, the format that would work best for you.

We will consider your request and get back to you as soon as possible.

Providing information in an accessible alternative format may also form part of our duty to make reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act 2010.

Reporting an accessibility problem

We are always looking for ways to improve the accessibility of our websites.

If you find a problem that we have not listed on this page, or if you think we are not meeting accessibility requirements, please let us know.

Email enquiries@futuralearning.co.uk with “Website accessibility or content issue” in the subject line.

It would be helpful if you could include:

  • The web address (URL) of the page where you found the problem
  • A description of the problem
  • What you were trying to do
  • The type of device or assistive technology you were using, if relevant

You do not need to provide this information if you are unable to do so.

Your feedback helps us identify problems and improve the accessibility of our websites.
