It is important for children to experience a variety of environments as part of their learning.

We love to get outside in our extensive and varied school grounds in all weathers.

We have plenty of stimulating play areas – including the iconic Ark and the climbing frame – and other spaces for quieter enjoyment and discovery such as the school garden. Early Years have their own covered outdoor area for maximum opportunity and their own bike track. All children benefit from our own sports field and playground facilities.

Library

The library is at the heart of the school, a special space in which to enjoy books independently or with guidance.

School hall

The school hall plays host to a vast array of events including collective worship, dramatic productions, sport and events for parents. We have recently upgraded the audio-visual provision.

The IT suite

With one computer each in this dedicated suite, children at Saltford enjoy their computing lessons. The suite is complemented by additional iPad trolleys that can be used anywhere around the school.

Swimming pool

We are lucky to have our own swimming pool on site. This means no time or money is wasted in travelling to lessons at the public pool.

Our music room was fully refurbished in 2020, making a space that is both practical and inspiring.

Playground

Endless choice for all types of play, supported by thoughtful playground art, challenging climbing frames and the provision of sheltered areas such as the beach hut and the ark. We have a “Playpod” which is full of resources for imaginative play and a “Huff ‘n’ Puff” shed that gives the children access to games equipment. There are separate, well-furnished play areas for younger pupils.

The Bug Room: we have created a room that is very different from other areas of the school. This is a quiet, calm, sensory room for our youngest children. We have a dark corner where the children can play with the light table, mood egg or simply snuggle up on cosy blankets and look at the stars and fish in the amazing bubble lamp. There is also a comfy corner with sensory blankets, seats and a range of exciting resources for the children to play with. As you can see from the photos the room is a big hit with the children.

Outdoor play: EYFS children have a dedicated play area full of choices, including a lovely bike track and a large sand pit.
