Closure of school, e.g. for severe weather

A decision will be reached if the school is to close as soon after 7am as possible. All reasonable efforts will be made to ensure the school opens. The decision to close the school will be taken on the basis of the health and safety of the children and staff. Many of our staff team travel in from outside the area. We would also contact wrap around care and school clubs etc. to let them know we were closed.

Letting you know

A  message from MCAS will be sent to all parents and details of the closure will be posted on the News page of the school website. The message will either be an email or a notification through the MCAS app, depending on your settings

Expectations for the day

Staff would post some suggested activities on Seesaw and there would also be a link for this on our news item.  We also suggest that children could access Doodle software and their reading book.

We know that parents & carers have differing opinions regarding children completing work while it is snowing. Some prefer to take some time to enjoy some fun in the snow and share photos of this to Seesaw. We ask parents to use your discretion with this decision; work set would not be compulsory. We understand that all family circumstances are different.

School closure during the school day

Should the school need to close during the school day all parents will be contacted through MCAS. Please ensure that your current mobile number is correct on the school system, My Child at School or contact the school if you have any difficulty with this. Please ensure you collect your child, or make arrangements for another adult to collect your child, as soon as possible after receiving the message. We would only close the school in an absolute emergency. Children can only be sent home if they are accompanied by an adult.
