Pupils and staff at Chestnut Park Primary School are delighted to have received trees for planting an apple orchard after winning the Thatchers Community Orchard Project.
Lily Taylor, Chestnut Park’s office manager, wrote the successful bid. She said: “We are beyond thrilled and incredibly grateful to have won the Thatchers Community Orchard Project! This opportunity means so much to us, as we will watch our apple orchard blossom and grow over the coming years.
“The children are buzzing with excitement as they were able to witness the trees arrive and were able to take part in their planting.”
Lily’s application outlined how the trees would have a positive impact on the school and pupils: “The children have a deep love for exploring our growing forest school area, and the addition of the orchard will further enrich their connection to nature, which correlates well with our OPAL approach. We can’t wait to see how the orchard evolves and provides endless learning opportunities in the future.”
