Seventeen Futura colleagues improved their resilience, teamwork, and leadership skills during their visit to Canada as part of their Level 5 apprenticeship.
The apprentices participated in a busy programme of workshops and activities in and around Vancouver. The numerous highlights included:
- Discovering different leadership styles, such as values-based leadership and charismatic leadership.
- Mentoring students on sustainable transportation solutions.
- Supported by horses and natural surroundings, the “Unbridling Your Brilliance” session fostered reflection and enhanced colleagues’ leadership skills and inner clarity through HeartMath breathing and emotional intelligence techniques.
- Climbing the Grouse Grind—a challenging mountain trail—pushed apprentices’ limits, testing resilience and teamwork.
When they weren’t engaged in training, the apprentices enjoyed a rich programme of cultural experiences, such as a guided tour of the University of British Columbia, a treetop walk through the botanical gardens, whale watching, and many more.
The UK government’s Turing Scheme sponsored the two-week visit. The Turing Scheme offers students and apprentices the opportunity to study and work abroad, aiming to develop new skills, gain international experience, and enhance their employability.
