We celebrate those who have earned top grades and are moving on to prestigious universities and we take equal pride in those who are taking other routes into further study, apprenticeships, training schemes and employment.
Futura’s new chief executive Gary Schlick said: “These young people have worked hard and made tremendous contributions to wider school life during their time with us. Their success is well-deserved. I wish them all the best for the future and am confident that they will thrive in whatever they choose to do.
I would like to thank teachers and other staff in schools for the support they have given this group and I am also grateful to parents and carers for working in partnership with us for the benefit of their children.”
RESULTS ROUND-UP
Sixth-form students at Wellsway School and IKB Academy were successful in earning grades that enable them to progress to the next stage in education, training or employment. Many have gained university places to study a diverse range of subjects while others have secured apprenticeships, including in the armed forces.
Headteacher Rob Pearsall said: “We are exceptionally proud of all that this group have achieved both in and out of the classroom over their time at Wellsway School and IKB Academy. Their success comes after an unprecedented educational journey; they have shown resilience and perseverance in the face of many challenges.”
The positive work ethic, determination and resilience of the sixth-form students at SBL Academy has been rewarded by a fantastic set of results, with an overall pass rate of over 98 per cent. The proportion of grades at A*-B and Distinction*-Merit and the average points score per qualification have also increased.
A number of students have secured university places, including at Russell Group universities, and others have won high-quality apprenticeships.
Headteacher Dr Robin Bassford said: “Our amazing Year 13 of 2024 are a credit to themselves, their parents and our staff who have provided the inspiration, support and guidance to enable our young people to succeed. I am so proud of each and every one of them, not just because of their brilliant results today but also for their significant contributions to the wider school life at SBL. We are confident that our students have exciting futures ahead.”
Clevedon School achieved some excellent GCSE results, with 28 per cent of grades at A/A*. Students have secured places at Oxbridge, Bristol University Medical School, a wide variety of universities and a range of apprenticeships, with some students opting for a gap year before taking up their place.
Headteacher Jim Smith said: “I am so proud of staff and students. We are celebrating some great individual stories, as well as communal success as a year group. The students should feel very proud of themselves as they have bucked many national trends.
“It is exciting that the students can now access the next chapter of their life, be it university, apprenticeships or employment knowing they have achieved well and have the confidence to go on and make a positive contribution to society”
