Yeo Moor Primary School welcomed colleagues from across Futura to an open morning focused on oracy in practice. The event showcased the school’s ongoing journey with Voice 21, highlighting how purposeful talk is elevating learning in classrooms.
Voice 21 is a charity that works in partnership with teachers and schools to increase access to high-quality oracy education.
Visitors were invited to take part in a listening walk, observing oracy in action and seeing first-hand how students are thinking, learning and communicating through talk. From structured discussions to exploratory dialogue, the morning offered an insight into how oracy is embedded across the curriculum.
Staff shared their experiences and reflections, offering practical strategies and structures that support high-quality talk. The atmosphere was one of collaboration, with senior leaders, oracy leads, and curriculum leads engaging in meaningful conversations about how to develop oracy in their own settings.
The event was warmly received, with attendees appreciating the opportunity to observe oracy in action and engage in thoughtful discussion.
