Two trusts, Clevedon Learning Trust (CLT) and Wellsway Multi Academy Trust (WMAT), came together to form the Futura Learning Partnership. These trusts were established by outstanding secondary schools that the Department of Education invited to sponsor a school and create a trust. CLT was established by Clevedon School in North Somerset in 2015 and WMAT by Wellsway School in Bath & North East Somerset in 2014.
WMAT changed its name to Futura Learning Partnership in September 2021, and when the two trusts agreed to merge, the trustees of both trusts decided that the new name should remain.
The two trusts merged officially on 1st March 2023 and became a single trust running 26 schools, serving 12,000 pupils across five local authority areas and employing 1,500 people.
